The Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club

Join the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club

The primary mission of Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club is to provide a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for all visitors to our beaches. Over the summer period (end November through to Easter) the club provides a volunteer beach patrols on weekends and public holidays. As a patrolling member of the club you will play an important role in the provision of this vital community service.

Victoria's coastline and inland waterways are unique and their recreational opportunities endless. The club is keen to ensure that all visitors are aware of their own abilities and the potential dangers at the beach. We train volunteer lifesavers in aquatic rescue and resuscitation techniques as well as offering water safety education to the general beach going public.

TSLSC is able to offer all volunteers:

  • water safety
  • sport
  • recreation; and
  • social opportunities

We are equipped with up-to-date and well maintained equipment, ensuring that members have access to the latest rescue techniques and aids.

We also offer 24 hour emergency support services in partnership with other community emergency services for handling aquatic incidents.

Nippers

A basic knowledge of water safety is vital when swimming at the beach. Our nipper program caters for children from 7 to 14 and provides a great opportunity for them to gain valuable surf safety information and skills. The program focuses on surf awareness and safety, surf related physical activity and a lot of fun. This is supported by involvement in the LSV Junior Ocean Beach Carnivals and other supporting activities and training throughout the year.
